Inspired Technology Systems continues to improve our cold storage warehouse software and ERP software for the food industry with practical updates designed for warehouse operations, cold storage businesses, food distributors, manufacturers, and inventory-driven companies that need better control over sales orders, putaways, pallet movement, picking, catch weight activity, scheduling, and outbound documentation.
This update includes improvements across sales order entry, pick tickets, putaway processing, inventory movement, automatic printing, appointment scheduling, order imaging, and several other areas of warehouse management.
Our distribution ERP software now supports a Manual Id on Order Entry in addition to Lot Number and Pallet Id. A Manual Id can be assigned during putaway to group an entire set of pallets together. In addition to the customer's lot number, this allows the Manual Id to function as an internal lot number for easier tracking, grouping, and warehouse reference.
Printed Pick Tickets now include a summary section when picks and pulls print across more than one pallet or lot. This gives warehouse users a clearer overview of the activity required for the order and helps reduce confusion when multiple pallets, lots, or inventory units are involved.
Sales Orders with a zero-dollar value now display a red highlighted order total to visually warn users before invoicing. This helps catch pricing issues, missing charges, or incomplete order values before the invoice is generated.
Our Storage Software Model now supports an Automatic Release Charge that can be added to outbound pick orders. If your outbound activity requires a release charge to be manually added each time, automating this step can save time and help prevent missed charges.
Our Distribution Software Model now supports both company-level and user-level Gross Profit Percentage Threshold settings. Gross profit amounts shown on Sales Orders and Sales Order Lines are red-highlighted when the gross profit falls below the configured threshold. This gives users a faster visual warning when an order may require review before it is completed.
Pick Tickets, BOLs, and Invoices can now be configured to automatically print once generated. If your operation prints these documents every time they are created, this setting can reduce repetitive steps and help keep office and warehouse workflows moving more efficiently.
Pulling Back From WMS for an entire sales order line is now supported directly from the Sales Order detail screen. This gives users a more direct way to reverse or adjust warehouse activity tied to a specific sales order line when needed.
Our Storage Software Model now supports auto-fill in Sales Order Entry for both Lots and Pallet Ids. Previously, this functionality was only available for lots. This improvement makes order entry faster when selecting inventory for outbound activity.
For Catch Weight lines, the Sales Order activity section now shows the count of weights taken compared with weights not yet taken. This gives users better visibility into catch weight progress before the order moves further through the picking, verification, shipping, or invoicing process.
A New Address button is now available in Order Entry, allowing users to create a new customer address faster and add it directly into the Customer Master Address list.
Users can now move inventory units that were already picked and verified to an order. This allows the warehouse team to adjust the unit and pallet configuration of an order after picking activity has occurred. This is especially useful when a shipment needs to be re-palletized, re-stacked, or organized differently due to customer requirements, carrier needs, space limitations, or loading conditions.
This improvement also helps support a more accurate Bill of Lading pallet count by allowing the final pallet configuration to better match the physical shipment.
A new quick Order Imaging option is now available under the RF menu in our WMS software. This option allows a user to enter a sales order number and upload relevant attachments directly from a camera-enabled device. This can be used to capture pictures of outbound pallets, inbound pallets, shipment conditions, product conditions, or other order-related documentation.
A new Verified Order Move icon is now available on the Sales Order listing, giving users quicker access when moving pallets out to manifest bins.
A new Edit Pallet icon is now available on the Inventory Unit Inquiry listing. This gives users faster access to edit pallet information such as Manual Id, Exclude Reason, Internal Note, and other pallet-level details.
Improvements have also been made to the Inventory ReStock functionality of our WMS ERP system. This feature provides guidance for returning unwanted picked or verified inventory back to its original pallet or location.
An option for Bulk Limited bins is now supported. This is the fourth type of bin supported by the system. Traditional bins allow for a maximum of one pallet. Bulk bins allow for an unlimited number of pallets. Pushback bins allow for a limited number of pallets in LIFO order. The new Bulk Limited option allows multiple pallets to be stored in a bin up to a defined maximum without requiring a LIFO rule.
A Default Customer PO Number can now be set up at the customer level. New sales orders can default to a preset PO Number from that customer's setup, helping reduce repetitive entry for customers that regularly use the same purchase order reference.
After successful completion of a putaway, the WMS system now automatically redirects to the Putaway Queue page. This makes it more obvious that the putaway has been completed and helps guide the user back to the next available warehouse task.
A new Queue button is now available after a putaway is created, giving users a faster path into the Putaway Queue.
A new Weights icon is now available directly from the Putaway Queue. This allows weights to be taken before the putaway begins, making it easier to track progress when entering weights across many pallets. The process automatically traverses all pallets in the queue.
Our WMS software includes scheduling functionality to help cold storage warehouses, food distributors, and inventory-driven businesses organize daily inbound and outbound activity.
Users can plan ahead and schedule pickups and drop-offs using the Schedule Calendar feature. Appointments can be added for putaways, receipts, and pickup orders, then viewed by day or by upcoming week. This gives the operation a clearer view of what is coming in and what is going out.
The scheduling feature also helps organize pickups and drop-offs with appointment confirmations and email alerts. Users can send customers and vendors an appointment confirmation notice to confirm that an appointment has been added to the schedule.
Appointment alerts can also be configured to send email reminders as upcoming appointments approach. This helps both parties stay aware of expected pickup and drop-off activity.
Scheduling anticipated pickups and drop-offs, along with sending appointment confirmation documents, can help reduce surprises, missed appointments, and unclear delivery expectations. Stipulations and instructions can also be listed on the appointment confirmation document to help avoid unexpected no-shows or arrivals at unspecified times.
These updates are part of our ongoing effort to improve the day-to-day usability of Inspired Technology Systems WMS ERP software. The goal is to reduce repetitive work, improve visibility, better support warehouse users, and help companies manage inventory, putaways, sales orders, picking, shipping, billing, and scheduling from one connected system.
